Runner's Day is celebrated on July 11 in the honour of the legendary runner Shivnath Singh. This day serves as a tribute to his remarkable achievements in the sport of running, and also celebrates the passion and hard work of runners all over the world.
On this day, runners come together to run and commemorate the legacy of Shivnath Singh, who is known for his unbreakable record of completing a marathon in 2:12:00 hrs. He was an Arjun awardee and former Asian games Gold medallist, and his achievements continue to inspire runners to this day.
If you are a runner or someone who is passionate about the sport, you can celebrate Runner's Day by participating in Runners Day run or organizing one yourself. It is a great way to connect with fellow runners and honour the legacy of legendary athletes like Shivnath Singh.
We’re all set to organise the fourth edition of Runner's Day with a virtual run on 11th July. It can be completed from any location and at any time, as long as you have access to a smartphone, computer, or other device to record their run. Unlike traditional races, which require participants to gather at a specific location at a specific time, virtual runs allow runners to complete the race on their own terms, often with a greater degree of flexibility.
Participants then complete the race on their own, either by running a specific distance, and upload their results to the event website or a designated app.
Virtual runs can be a fun and flexible way to stay active and support a good cause, while also connecting with a community of runners from around the world.
